Definition: Evaluation means procedures used in accordance with Special Education rules to determine whether a student has a disability under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004(IDEIA), and the nature and extent of special education and related services that the student needs.
Description/Purpose: The purposes of a psychological evaluation are:
To gather information that will help determine the individual’s educational needs
To guide decision making about appropriate educational programming for the individual.
